I Have the Model

I went in to college today and got the model of the strong gnome to start test animating. Sarah went through the character with me on Maya e.g. how to make the fingers and toes curl and told me that I can have until next Tuesday to create the animation. She also made sure that I understood how the character's personality should be. I'm very excited that I am working on this project.

Animatic

Here is the The Gnome Team's animatic

Test Walk

Yesterday I started animating a walk cycle with Moom. I think that it is ok so far but has some corrections to make. I am hoping to add the animation to my show-reel that I am creating for this assignment.

Joined A Team!

YES! I've joined 'The Gnome Team'! and I will be doing character animation for them. I really like the story idea and the style of the animation that the group have planned. I have also been looking at the team blog and I think that their models and the animatic sequence are great.
The team have told me that there will be a finished model in the public folder on the college computers tomorrow and that I can do a test animation with it. I can't wait to try it!

Animated Max

This weekend I have been animating Max to show to the third year animation groups that presented their ideas to us. I am hoping to go and show them this and some of my other animations on Monday.

New Assignment

Wow back again already! Today we were given our new assignment called 'Industry Exercises 3' from Jared and we have three options of what to do:
  • Work as a junior producing a film with BA students
  • Create a 30 second long ident for Rave Live
  • Work for an external client
Option one (Work as a junior producing a film with BA students) is a clear favourite of mine.

Later in the day three groups from the BA Animation course came and presented their ideas and screen shots of their models to us.
There was a team called Whack'd with a story about spies for their animation; one has a story about garden gnomes and another team is animating pirates.
I like the look of all the teams and I thought that they all seemed like they would be good to work with. Their characters all look interesting, especially the gnomes.
